Ready to Work Employment Service
Ready to Work is a 12-week employment orientation service that helps 75 clients a year take their first steps toward gaining competitive employment. Participants gain basic skills and develop general workplace knowledge through skill development workshops and on-the-job training at one of Affirmative Industries businesses. This high impact job coaching service also assists employers in finding valuable employees for their businesses.
Ready to Work helps participants achieve results by:

Ready to Work is a chance to learn some of the basics before you get a job. The program offers participants:
- Job skills assessment
- Job skills development planning
- Resume workshops
- Development of general workplace knowledge
- On-the-job training
Employment orientation workshops are scheduled one evening a week for two hours for a total of 12 weeks. On-the-job-training takes place once a week for four hours at one of Affirmative Industries businesses - The Neighbourhood Dollar Plus Store, Pet Stuff on the Go or Mort’s Convenience.

- Determining personal skills
- Attitudes towards work – the Working World
- Showing initiative on the job
