Providing persons with disabilities with opportunities to begin on the path to employment is a complex endeavour.  The Ready To Work Progam is a cross-disability project designed to assist individuals to move toward greater independence and work related activities.

Affirmative Industries has partnered with two organizations to optimize the potential for success through the Next Step Project.  

• Independent Living Resource Centre (providing life skills training)
• Canadian Mental Health Association, Metro Branch (providing asset mapping of an individual’s skills)
• Affirmative Industries (providing employment training)

The principles of The Next Step are:

• consumer focused
• enhancing opportunities
• consumer choices
• linking to the community
• ongoing supports
• mentoring opportunities

The project is supported by TEAM Work Co-operative Ltd. and is co-ordinated by Affirmative Industries, Canadian Mental Health Association - Halifax branch, and the Independent Living Resource Centre, HRM.
